In our everyday lives we use social media, to talk, stalk and like what other people are posting to their pages and profiles. Did you ever think that these platforms would be used in classrooms as well. Instagram, twitter and facebook three of the most common social media platform that today’s teachers are incorporating into lesson plans. Personally the idea of bringing those platforms into a classroom is not called for and in my opinion appropriate, even if you are dealing with middle and high schools. If these platform were to be brought into the classroom some students may enjoy it and some students may think that the school is trying get involved in their personal lives. There are certain types of platforms that could be brought into the classroom, just not ones that involve the students personal life as well. One of the tools that I think should be brought into the classroom, and that I have used while in high school as well. Such as Kahoot, it is a fun game that gives the students an access code while playing on their phone. Another platform can be Edpuzzle. I was not introduced to this until recently but I do really enjoy it. You are given a video and through the video it will pause and ask you a short answer questions. One platform that I have been using since middle school is castle learning, almost all of my homeworks for science and social studies would be on this platform. I was never a fan of it but it gives students the freedom to do the work on their own time as well as it gives you more than one chance to get it right if it is not a quiz. Some others that I just found out about senior year of high school and even this past semester is google docs, which is so helpful whatever you type is saved automatically and you can work on it from different computers as long as you know your password. The same goes for google slides as well as being able to share it and have you and your group all work on the same slide show at the same time. Lastly just google in general is such a helpful tool with all they offer from platforms to do essays, presentations and have emails to communicate.
