Autobiography

Growing up on Long Island you are open to a lot of different experiences because you are in the middle of everything the mountains the ocean and the city. I was raised in a small hamlet called sound beach, a small town is nice but everyone knows your business before you. From a very young age I had know what I wanted to do with my life, which was becoming a teacher. Mostly from seeing my mom come home telling me how much she loved her job and hearing and seeing how to this day she had a positive impact on so many of her students. I had gone back and forth between the area I wanted to focus on, between primary or secondary education, or english and music as my focus. My home town had given me a lot of opportunities with being a counselor at summer camp and sport camps to now being the assistant coach for my middle school softball team.

When the time came to start applying for colleges I started to become anxious, wanting to choose the college I loved the most but making sure they were very known for education. When decision day rolled around SUNY Potsdam and SUNY Cortland were the final two. Potsdam where I could get a good education and play softball but be eight hours away from my family or cortland where I could once again get a good education and only be about five hours but not have the opportunity to play softball anymore. When the decision was Potsdam I knew I was going in the write direction for me. The first day I was nervous, and excited knowing there was no turning back because home was hours away. Looking back now there was no reason to be nervous, but every reason to be excited this school brought me so many friendships and memories that will keep building through my next few years here.
